[sg_popup id=”3896″ event=”inherit”][/sg_popup]Emily Smith, mother, wife, farmer, entrepreneur, Free Stater, and friend. These are just a few of the hats that Emily wears on any given day. She works hard to create a loving home for her family and an excellent product for the community. This woman is a go-go getter, always busy, always smiling, and constantly coming up with new ideas on how to grow and build a better world.

Emily moved from Pennsylvania to New Hampshire with her husband Neil and before long, with the help of Jody and Ian Underwood, created Bardo Farm. Bardo is an an off-the-grid unintentional community focusing on sustainability using a balance of agricultural avenues: livestock, gardening, maple-sugaring, and forestry. They’re also long term sponsors of PorcFest, providing the much anticipated Saturday Pig Roast.

Since their move, the Smith’s have had two children whom they homeschool as they keep up the daily chores of farming and homestead living. Once a month Emily hosts a day of learning at her home and farm, to teach children the ways of the farm, the importance of team work, and how much fun it is to live off the land!

Once the crops are gathered, the animals have been butchered, and all are ready to sell, Emily participates in three monthly Porcupine community markets around the state. I really enjoy our Market Days that also include other vendors selling their goods, like soap, coffee, and hand made hair accessories, to name a few. Emily brings a sense of community to each group she gathers in, sharing her hard work, sweet heart, and dedication to peaceful living.
