After completing graduate school in Ohio, I was ready to try something new. I was ready to be a part of something bigger than myself; something that kept the fire inside me alive. I was involved with liberty-minded student groups (like Students for Liberty and Young Americans for Liberty) as an undergraduate and graduate student for several years. I grew very fond of being a part of a like-minded community and the relationships I built with people through the ideas of liberty. I wanted that feeling of belonging to continue, especially now that I am more aware of libertarian ideals. Feeling like it was time for me to make the next big step in my life and career as a young-twenty-something, I figured I have nothing to lose by moving to New Hampshire to be a part of the Free State Project. It was something I always wanted to do since I first heard about it.

In order to make my move happen, I let go of most of my possessions and fit everything inside of my small Toyota Corolla. I knew I wanted to make the move, but spending loads of money for a moving trailer was not feasible. It made more sense to let go of the things that no longer served me. It made more sense to start anew. On the way to the Free State, I made several pit stops to visit family and friends. It was not easy saying “bye” to the small town of Athens, Ohio or my hometown of Spring Mills, Pennsylvania. However, I knew that I needed to make the move; nothing was going to stop me. Taking the leap of faith and making the move was something I had to do if I wanted to experience growth and a new set of challenges.

I have been in the Free State for three months now and I am so happy with my decision. In fact, this may be the happiest time of my life! I have been greeted with welcoming arms. Every week, I meet new and fascinating people who share similar beliefs and ideals. Some ideas have even challenged or made me think more critically. In addition, I have been able to enjoy some of my hobbies more. I’ve gone hiking every other weekend to explore New Hampshire’s beautiful outdoors. I’ve also explored my new love for Indian food (Downtown Manchester has several options). I also already met someone special who means a lot to me. My life has been on an uphill trajectory since I decided to move.

I remember when I first moved, I felt overwhelmed with the abundance of opportunities that lay in front of me. There are still so many activities to be a part of, groups and organizations to join, and amazing people to meet. While I live in New Hampshire, I hope to be involved with initiatives that will increase our liberties in education, health, relationships, farming, and small business. I am so thankful that I am becoming a part of the liberty community in New Hampshire. I already feel like I get to live through my principles with like-minded individuals as the next chapter of my life unfolds.Thank you for everyone who helped me along my journey to be a part of this experience. Thank you to all of the new friends I’ve made for making me feel like I am home!
